Islamabad Police to Use WhatsApp for Official Communications

Islamabad Police will now use WhatsApp to communicate in better and faster way with WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption. Officials from Police stated that the other means of communication being used are out dated and slow for day to day operations.
The idea to internet and IM app was given by new Inspector General of Islamabad Police. New IG was appointed on Wednesday and he managed to ask Police officers to create groups on WhatsApp which include station house officials, seniors, sub-devisional Police officers, superintendent of Police and SSP.

Acording to source from Police many groups have been created till today on WhatsApp and Two separate groups named ICT Police Operation and ICT Police Security were created for the securiy wings and operations. IG Islamabad Police is also part of both of these groups.
Until now Islamabad Police was communicating through Wireless handsets, SMS and Landlines. All communication through handset is recorded and concerned officers report to their senior about updates if any.
They claim using WhatsApp will resolve the delay in message passing from top to bottom and bottom to top as officers will get message immediately on their smartphones. WhatsApp support image, documents, location, audio and videos along with text so every officer will able to send multiple type of date if required.
There is a small question will Islamabad Police completely rely on WhatsApp?, if yes then what will happen in case of Singnal Jams which tends to happen almost every-week in Twin cities?.
